Watchman

Ezekiel 3:17 (New International Version)
¹⁷ "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.
Some people are called to medicine, some to governing, some to business...not me. I am called to watching and warning. It's strange to have that calling. You want to argue with the Lord or talk Him out of it. Surely He must have meant somebody else...right??? No wrong. He meant me. This is especially weird because I have always been a people pleaser. People pleasers don't warn. They go along with the crowd and happily join in to whatever is going on. You could say that this calling is entirely out of my comfort zone. Like so far out, I can't begin to be a watchman without the Lord doing it all. Probably this is why He picked this one for me. No doubt in my mind that He is doing it, if I am being a watchman at all..
Maybe this will help someone out there who is wondering what the Lord has for them. They are thinking..."I like music, I am probably supposed to sing for the Lord." Well...my guess is that may not be it. Oh not that he won't put talents in us and use them for His Glory...the thing is...can you do this in your own strength? Then it probably won't be what he has for you...

The Children

John 1:12
Yet to all who receive Him, to those who believed in His name,
He gave the right to become children of God.
Currently searching this out in the Word. What exactly does this mean? "He gave the right to become the children of God."? Certainly not finished with my search, but I did find out a few interesting things.
In Romans 8: 14-17 addresses a couple of ideas.
a) The children of God are those led by the Holy Spirit (not the sinful nature)
b) The children experience an inner knowing that they are God's children and co-heirs with Christ.
c) The children share in Christ's sufferings and also His Glory
Ephesians 5:1 tells us to imitate God and to live a life of love (as dearly loved children). The concept of being a dearly loved child is mind bending to me, since my earthly parents did not want me. I get the imitating part, but you have to study what Christ did not what the modern Church markets. It is my opinion that Christ's teachings are outside and above politics and group agendas. Whenever love is not the center, it seems to me to be off base. I am not going to imitate off base.
1 John 3: 1 & 2 talks about a great love lavished on us that we should be called the children of God. We will be like Him and see Him as He is. Oh for the day.....it will be Awesome. Pretty sure whatever I can imagine won't come close to the reality.

Great and Unsearchable Things You Answered
Your ear turned to me
Your answers
Your nearness... is a wonderful amazing thing to me.
When I wonder and question and you answer with your word...
When I pour out my heart to you and your command rains down on me before I even finish...
I step back and marvel at
your LOVE
your WISDOM
your POWER
Remembering the times when you were speaking and I was unaware and innocent of the waves rising up
You stilled them before they reached me, lifting me very high and showing me what harm you kept away
There were times when you patiently waited for me to catch up to your message, holding my hand and drying my consequence tears, the result of my poor choices.
There were visions and dreams that covered me-soft nudges and knowings-to tell me who I am and WHO YOU ARE.
Bits and pieces of puzzles that rested in my view yet to show a bigger picture.
These are the responses I have known, but perhaps the sweetest of all is to see:
the dawning of faith in another
the softening of heart
the relief of suffering
the spark of understanding
in those coming to know YOU
the glisten of the water of life dripping down your children's chins and the eyes open wide with surprise and delight at the
Sweet Cool Drink that YOU ARE
Your response to the children makes my heart dance and sing a thousand songs of joy
just FOR YOU.

Take Words With You

I came in to the world in not-so-pretty circumstances to too young parents on the edge of a cultural revolution that thumbed it's nose at Christ. My upbringing did not include church or the Bible. New Age teachings, laced with what one of my coworkers calls whack-a-doos (translation: full of crap teachers) abounded while my brain was young and exceptionally malleable.
Why do I share this? It has to do with words. I have difficulty with words like Calvary and Repentance. Not for their meaning, but for the strangeness of the words themselves. Some call the language of Christendom, Christianese. It can get in the way. However, my discomfort never proved to be any kind of obstacle for the Holy Spirit. It seems that the harder it is for me to be comfortable, the greater the truth He reveals.
In the following passage (one of hundreds in the Word), the reality of Repentance, this strange and foreign word, leapt off the page and engraved itself on my heart and mind by the laser beam of the Holy Spirit. It is a word that means to turn away from something to something else.The general idea is to return to something better. This requires diligence and intention, but what a reward. See the bold text in Hosea 14. It speaks of the Christ. Then it speaks of Christ in You: the Hope of Glory. Sit and meditate on each thought. Speak them out loud.

Repentance to Bring Blessing
1 Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God.
       Your sins have been your downfall!
2 Take words with you
       and return to the LORD.
       Say to him:
       "Forgive all our sins
       and receive us graciously,
       that we may offer the fruit of our lips.
3 Assyria cannot save us;
       we will not mount war-horses.
       We will never again say 'Our gods'
       to what our own hands have made,
       for in you the fatherless find compassion."
4 "I will heal their waywardness
       and love them freely,
       for my anger has turned away from them.
5 I will be like the dew to Israel;
       he will blossom like a lily.
       Like a cedar of Lebanon
       he will send down his roots;
6 his young shoots will grow.
       His splendor will be like an olive tree,

He is the Way, the Truth and the Life...
